Alberto Giacometti
私に見えるとおりに一つの顔をかたちづくり、描き、あるいはデッサンすることが自分には不可能だとよくわかっています。
しかしそれこそが私の目指していることなのです。
That being said,I know it is impossible for me to model, paint or draw a head, for instance ,as I see it ,and yet it is my main purpose
Coarse Hemp Hita City, Oita Prefecture

Coarse Ramie Manufacturing Technique, a selected conservation technique supporting traditional craft techniques by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. Record-breaking torrential rain in Kyushu. I am concerned.
I was concerned about the passing on of the technique after the loss of the leading person last year.
Hemp is a necessary material for the dyeing process of Kurume Kasuri, but it is also important for lacquer. The world's oldest excavated lacquer product (excavated in Hokkaido) was made by soaking hemp fibers in lacquer.
The world's oldest lacquer excavated in Hokkaido was made by soaking hemp fibers in lacquer. This material and technique is necessary for both dyeing and lacquer crafting, so I hope it will somehow survive.
Last year, when I held an exhibition at Oita TOKIWA, I was asked by a resident of Takeda if I could plant lacquer trees. The best place to grow lacquer trees is in an area where tangerine trees do not grow well and where apple trees grow well. The climate is different from Iwate, and considering Kyushu's rainy season, typhoons, and the number of times we have to cut underbrush, I remember giving a harsh reply. It's not easy when you also consider the phenomenon of climate warming. It is really difficult.

Google search result 2: Shitajihada Lacquer Studio.
I used to make studio things. I can't use Wajima jinoko and
the Sabiurushi made from Kyoto's gritty powder anymore, and I can't order lacquering. Even if I draw a drawing and ask the woodworker to do it, the woodworker and the customer think that the woodwork drawn on the potter's wheel is the shape of the woodworker himself. They will not forgive me for fleshing it out with a base. He closed his studio in 2000 when he moved to Saitama.
A Koudai of bowl (during his time at the studio) . The back side of the base looks like this in the article featuring Isaburo Kado in Kateigahou. I want to make it stronger. The only way to do that would be to make a consistent production.

A kanshitsu bowl that I have been using since around 2010.
This is the back side of the bowl.
I left the texture of the base and made it so that it can be used in everyday life.
Search results in Google The skin texture of the base coat has been the base coat for some time. That's what happened to another part of the house last year, where it was finished as a primer. Scary. A dry lacquer bowl I chose for a postcard shoot at Tokyo Takashimaya. The year 2012 uploaded to the search.
The raw materials and production process were designed to make the bowl last longer than the bowl in the collection of the Tokyo National Museum: The Shosoin Treasury (Important Cultural Property), which I used as a reference. It is finished with the same process as the Shitajihada on the back side of my dry lacquer bowl (photo above) and can withstand use well.
When Setouchi-sensei's recommendation is included, I still want to challenge myself to create a work of art that transcends time.
I guess the result will be in 1200 years.

Last year's most popular dry-lacquer cup.
I only had one left so I started using it for myself. I often use it for wine, milk and water.
The red cup makes me feel happy.
It is thin, so I wash it with as much care as I would a glass cup.
But I like that it is light. When I am washing dishes, I really feel that lacquer ware is good.

A postcard from my first solo exhibition in Kyoto in 2000.
When I was still in Joboji-cho, I was happy to receive a recommendation from Professor Setouchi, but it was a strange feeling with the weight of responsibility.
The baby at that time is now a working adult. As a father, I was happy that my sister helped me prepare for the exhibition. Seventeen years have passed since then. That was fast.
Chinese lacquer tree

Kew Gardens lacquer book. 1995: Lacquer trees in Sichuan, China.
The tree is scarred to allow the sap to flow down naturally. If you put a saucer at the bottom, you can collect the sap, which explains why the English word for collecting lacquer is "tap".
The bark is also tough. and although it looks very similar to Japanese lacquer, it is also a Chinese lacquer tree.
I'm going to organize the "Theory of Japanese Origin of Urushi" and present it at the exhibition starting in October this year.
I wish I had my sister's notes that she translated into Japanese... sorry!

Repairing my sister's chopsticks
It's funny that I've been eating like this for a few days.
If you use them so much.
I'm happy to repair them.

My bowl. I eat rice and drink tea. Not matcha. Just regular tea. A cup of tea after my wife and kids are out and gone.
